Clay render

Area of application

A warm white, fine-grained skim coat for interior walls and ceilings. Regulates the indoor climate; ideal for use on plaster, concrete, plasterboard and mineral paints.

Preparation

The substrate must be dry, clean, sound and slightly absorbent. Remove any old paint that is not firmly adhering, distemper and loose plaster. Pre-treat highly absorbent, sandy and chalky surfaces with proMineral primer.

Processing

Stir the clay-based skim coat thoroughly before use and apply it with a roller, brush or flat brush, creating a textured finish as desired. On light-coloured, even substrates, a single coat is often sufficient. This produces a fine textured finish. To achieve a more pronounced texture, apply a further coat once the first coat has dried thoroughly. A second coat should also be applied to very dark or uneven substrates. In this case, the base coat may be thinned with a maximum of 10 per cent water. The top coat should be applied undiluted once the first coat has dried completely. Do not apply when the substrate or room temperature is below +5 °C. Clean tools with water immediately after use.

Colouring:
For coloured finishes, the clay rendering can be tinted with a maximum of 4 per cent universal tinting concentrates (LW-Oxyd types only) or with proMineral coloured paints.

Drying time:
Under normal conditions (20 °C, 65 % relative humidity, moderately absorbent substrate), the drying time is approx. 24 hours. Under unfavourable conditions (e.g. low temperature or high humidity), the drying time may be extended.

Overcoating:
The clay render is suitable as a final coat, but can also be painted over. proMineral clay paint, for example, is recommended for this purpose.

Consumption

1 kg is sufficient for approx. 2.5 m² with a single coat – depending on the condition of the substrate. Determine the exact amount required by carrying out a test application on the surface.

Storage

Store containers tightly sealed in a cool place, but away from frost. Do not allow the product to enter the sewer system, watercourses or the ground. Only send completely empty containers for recycling. Dried-out residues can be disposed of with household waste or as construction site waste.

Notes

Keep out of the reach of children. Due to the high pH value, avoid contact with the eyes and skin. It is recommended that you wear gloves and safety goggles (not glass). In case of skin contact, rinse thoroughly with plenty of water. In case of eye contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice if necessary.
